If you are interested in becoming a ReCHAI PALS for Seniors Program Student please follow these steps:
Step One
Your first step is to complete the online application with your contact information.
Please review the Dog Behavior Checklist. This is the form your tester will use to evaluate you and your dog prior to registration.
Please view theReCHAI PALS for Seniors Dog Behavior Testto see what the program expectations are and how you and your dog will be evaluated prior to becoming a registered member of the program.
Step Two
You need to request a criminal background check online from (www.CertifiedBackground.com). The results are posted to the CertifiedBackground.com website in a secure, tamper-proof environment where you as well as ReCHAI staff can view the details.
Results should be available within 3-5 days. Please notify ReCHAI by email when your results are completed.
Step Three
After your criminal background check has been verified by ReCHAI, you will then receive an email from us with your unique user identification. You will need this unique ID to complete the application process, each time you submit a quiz, and when you record online your PALS for Seniors visits.
Step Four
After you have received your unique ID you complete the application process. This includes the:
Once the application process is complete and we have received your payment for the online course you will receive an e-mail with instructions to begin the online course.
Refund policy: Prior to submitting quiz number one if we receive an email from you that you no longer wish to take our on-line course we will refund your course fees.
The course includes seven modules with powerpoint presentations, readings and a quiz. Complete each module and the quiz in order 1-7. Once you have completed the online course you will receive a certificate of completion. Click here to access the modules.
You may find it helpful to complete a basic dog obedience class and complete the Canine Good Citizenship test with your dog while completing the online course to prepare yourself to work as a team. You are responsible for your dog’s obedience training.
Step Six
After you have completed the online course and practiced the behaviors with your dog, your next step is to complete the online Dog Registration form. Once that is submitted you will receive an email from us with the name and contact of PALS Behavior Testers in your area. You will contact a Tester and request an appointment to have your dog’s PALS Behavior Test done.
Once you and your dog have completed the Behavior Test the Tester will report online the results of the test.
